- Inscription: Gaceta Callejera Chinatown, January 2015. There is a hotel located next to Chinatown’s famous “Dragon Gate” entrance. Poor Chinese immigrants pay $300 a month to live there. Hotel residents report they have been victims of heavy-handed eviction tactics. They were locked out of their rooms without notice. Chinatown, July 2015. Resident Paris Wang worries he will be locked out. Everyday he carries a backpack whenever he leaves his room. He carries anything he might need if he finds himself locked out. Objects like his wallet, identity papers, cellphone. Chinatown, February 2016 Paris Wang walks out of the “Dragon Gate” entrance for the last time. Rent went up and he received the news that same day. He is unsure of where to go. Nobody notices. Chinatown, January 2115 Nothing is the same. Nothing is left.
